Our goal is to deliver high-quality, integrated care to our patients. In support of patient care priorities, we collaborate with many other health care and support service partners as part of our commitment to provide the best care possible that is seamless and integrated for our patients.
In keeping with this commitment, we develop Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) aligned with the key principles in the
Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) and as directed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
The QIP is one tool that helps to define priorities focused on delivering patients the best care possible through quality initiatives and continuous quality improvement. Under this process, the QIP is also central to progressive health system transformation by ensuring all health sectors partner for quality, patient-centred care.
What is a QIP?
A QIP is a formal, documented set of organizational priorities focused on quality and quality improvement objectives that are reviewed and posted annually. Using priority indicators that have been identified by the Ministry of Health, we have made a commitment to patients, staff, health care partners and our communities to improve quality through a series of concentrated targets and actions.
We will report on indicators, which in collaboration with other health care partners can make a significant positive impact to patients and the health care system. These core set of indicators support provincial priorities with targets in the areas of safety, effectiveness, access and focuses on patient-centred care.

How do I read the QIP?
The QIP is comprised of two parts:
1) A narrative document that provides a brief overview of a QIP, highlighting some of the key priorities for the year.
2) A work plan or spreadsheet that includes the quality improvement targets and initiatives.
