Excellent care starts with an excellent healthcare workplace
The Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is thrilled to be named a 2016 top employer in the Greater Toronto Area. This is the sixth straight year the organization has earned this accolade. Chief Executive Officer Megan Allen-Lamb credits Central CCAC's dedicated employees, who work hard each and every day to ensure patients, families and caregivers get the quality care and services they need.
"We are delighted to be named a Greater Toronto top employer once again. Delivering excellent care to people in our communities is a true reflection of the passion, loyalty and commitment of our team," says Allen-Lamb. "This award shows how deeply our employees care about making Central CCAC a great place to work and a great organization from which to receive care and services."
Every day, Central CCAC delivers care to over 36,000 people, and that number is growing. In 2014-2015, the organization served 82,587 patients, 6.1% more than in the previous year. In fact, home and community care is the fastest growing sector in health care, making it essential for organizations like Central CCAC to recruit and retain highly skilled health care professionals, such as care coordinators, by being a "top employer."
Central CCAC care coordinators are nurses and other regulated health professionals with clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge of health and community services. Helping patients transition to different care settings and mobilizing the right care and services in the community to help them stay healthy is at the heart of what CCAC care coordinators do.
"This acknowledgment highlights Central CCAC's efforts to create an effective workplace that makes it possible for us to achieve our strategic priorities and deliver quality, patient-focused care. Just as important, it is recognition of the valuable contributions made by every member of our amazing team, every day, on behalf of our patients and their families," says Allen-Lamb.
Along with the 2015 GTA Top Employer award, Central CCAC also recently received its fifth consecutive Quality Healthcare Workplace Award – Gold Level from the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
