Central CCAC welcomes new Chief Executive Officer

​​North York ON, August 18, 2014 – The Board of Directors of the Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is pleased to welcome Jo-anne Marr as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective August 5, 2014. Marr joins the Central CCAC from Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill, Ontario, where she held positions including Interim President and CEO, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Nursing Executive.

Central CCAC Board Chair Nevzat Gurmen says Marr’s expertise in healthcare management, proven ability to build relationships in the health sector, and skill at successfully leading organizations through transformation will be a tremendous asset to the Central CCAC.
“The expectations around health care in Ontario are changing, with greater emphasis placed on care in the home and community. Ms. Marr brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that makes her an ideal choice for this important leadership role,” says Gurmen.

“Central CCAC plays a vital role in meeting the health needs of patients and families who live in the diverse and growing communities of the Central region, and I am looking forward to leading the team on their behalf,” says Marr.


“This is an organization full of accomplished, compassionate people who are dedicated to helping patients get the care they n​eed at home and in the community, while improving the health system for all of us. It is my privilege to work alongside them towards those goals,” she adds.

Marr’s 30-year career spans public and private sectors, including academic and community hospitals. She has co-authored numerous publications for nursing and healthcare management journals on a wide variety of issues,​ as well as a book on healthcare management.
