Central West CCAC Wins Gold Award for High-Quality Health Care Workplace

November 13, 2014

The Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), which provides home care and other essential health services in our community, has been honoured with a Gold Quality Healthcare Workplace Award for the second consecutive year.

Presented by the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the award recognizes the CCAC's efforts to create a supportive culture for health care professionals to learn, work and thrive.

"Creating an environment in which staff is engaged, training and development is a priority, and innovation is encouraged has an incredible impact on our ability to provide high-quality patient care," said Cathy Hecimovich, Chief Executive Officer, Central West CCAC. "We are thrilled to receive a gold award again this year, and continue to seek ways to become even more effective and efficient as we support families throughout the Central West region."

Health care organizations from across the province participate in the award program, which is meant to raise the bar of excellence for quality health care workplaces. The award was presented to the Central West CCAC on Nov. 4 at the OHA's HealthAchieve 2014 convention and exhibition in Toronto.

About the Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC)

The Central West CCAC helps ensure people have the health care and support they need  to remain safe and independent for as long as possible. We are privileged to help people come home from hospital, live independently, and, when appropriate, transition into long- term care. Our care coordinators are regulated health professionals – nurses, physiotherapists, and others – with additional, specialized training in coordinating care across the health system. Last year, we served more than 35,000 patients at home, in school, and through the three hospitals located in our community. The Central West CCAC is funded by the Central West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
