My name is Kelsey and I am a 23 year old cystic fibrosis patient. I have dealt with many caregivers and different home care organizations throughout my life.
Being a Champlain CCAC patient can be difficult—especially at such a young age. Normally I am on service for 2-3 weeks and require IV antibiotics and need to be seen by a nurse every day. She checks my heart and lungs and re-programs my IV pump. This process can be even more stressful when you have a new nurse or when supplies and medications aren't delivered to my home on time.
I joined the Patient and Caregiver Council to help improve everyone's home care experience—patients, caregivers, and the health care professionals who deliver the care. I would like to see all of us work better together to make positive change happen. I feel that the Champlain CCAC takes this Council and the issues that it raises seriously, and hope to continue working with them to improve care in the region.
