Paramed Strike in Renfrew County

OTTAWA, September 3, 2014 – The Champlain Community Care Access Centre has received confirmation from ParaMed Home Health that effective today, Tuesday, September 2, 2014, members of Local 492 in Renfrew County are on strike. Only ParaMed clients receiving personal support and nursing services in the Renfrew County area are affected – the labour dispute will not impact clients residing in other parts of the Champlain region.

The Champlain CCAC is not involved in the labour negotiation process and at this time, it is not known how long the strike will last.

Champlain CCAC's clients remain our top priority. Our contingency planning is focused on client safety and continuity of care. The Champlain CCAC has contacted all clients affected by the labour disruption and is doing everything possible to ensure that our clients get the care they need.

Clients with urgent care needs who have been receiving nursing or personal support services from ParaMed have been transferred to other service provider organizations.  All other clients may also be transferred depending on care needs.

Clients who have questions about their care should call their Care Coordinator at 613-310-2222.
