CCAC Internationally Recognized For Quality

Chatham, ON – The Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) has earned another three-year Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International.

In 2012, Erie St. Clair became the first CCAC in the province to achieve this distinction for quality and will now remain accredited through June 30, 2018. The extensive re-accreditation process included a five-day survey in September by CARF representatives who visited all ESC CCAC sites and interviewed service providers and patients.

CARF officials recently notified the CCAC of the decision to award re-accreditation at the highest level, stating our "services, personnel, and documentation clearly show an established pattern of following quality standards."

"This award is an indication of our dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of our patients and their families," said CCAC CEO Lori Marshall. "CARF has recognized our quality achievements over the last three years, highlighted by our high patient satisfaction. CARF surveyors reported that patients had nothing but compliments for our staff."

Other strengths identified by CARF include the introduction of Patient Advisors as part of a strong and dedicated volunteer base, as well as IT systems and support for front-line users.

"I want to thank every single member of our CCAC for their hard work day in and day out," said Marshall. "From our Care Coordinators and direct care providers, to our strong support and administrative staff, it is their dedication that enables us to apply for and achieve this type of recognition, while positioning us to deliver the best possible home and community care."

CARF International is an independent, not-for-profit family of organizations (including CARF, CARF Canada and CARF-CCAC) that provides accreditation based on its own consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
