MEDIA RELEASE July 15, 2015
Erie St. Clair CCAC enhancing communications
Chatham, ON – The Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre strives to provide the best possible internal and external communications. With that being said, the ESC CCAC has appointed Dave Richie as its new Lead, Communications and Public Affairs.
Richie spent more than a decade working in news media across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent for Blackburn Radio (Chatham/Windsor/Leamington) and CBC Radio-Windsor, amongst others. He brings his long list of industry contacts and knowledge of health care with him to his new role with the CCAC.
"Community care is increasingly becoming a part of the lives of the residents in our region as more care is provided and accessed in non-traditional settings," said Richie, who believes there's no topic he covered more frequently as a member of the media. "The CCAC has a presence in 1 out of every 18 homes in our region. With this demand for services, it's important that the community is educated and engaged with the CCAC."
Some of the priorities in the coming months include enhanced media relations and a greater emphasis on educating the public about the services available through the ESC CCAC.
"We have some great initiatives in the works as well, including our 3rd annual Heroes in the Home event, which recognizes exceptional caregivers in our communities across Erie St. Clair," said Richie. "And we're also celebrating our quality achievements over the last three years as we work towards renewing our accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)."
In 2012, Erie St. Clair became the first CCAC in Ontario to be accredited by CARF.
Richie, who grew up in Tilbury and currently lives in Chatham, got his first taste of health care back in 2002 when he joined the Communications Department at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to help produce the first edition of the Patient & Family Information Guide, found at each hospital bedside.
