The Erie St. Clair CCAC to Celebrate Caregivers With the "Heroes in the Home" Program
September 3, 2013
Erie St. Clair, ON – Caregivers save the health system $25 billion annually (Ontario Caregiver Coalition). The Erie St. Clair CCAC Heroes in the Home caregiver recognition program will honour both informal and formal caregivers whose kindness and commitment allows people to live their lives in their communities, despite the limitations of age, illness, or disability.
Whether it is a family member caring for a loved one or a health professional providing quality care to patients, the kindness and dedication of these individuals ensures that care is delivered to those who need it. To celebrate the commitment and inspiring nature of caregivers, the Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is pleased to be launching the Heroes in the Home caregiver recognition program.
Any caregiver who provides exceptional care can be nominated as a Hero in the Home. Nominations can be submitted online, by visiting www.thepowerofcaregiving.ca beginning on Tuesday, September 3. Each nominee will then be invited to and honoured at one of three recognition luncheons being held in Chatham, Sarnia, and Windsor during the first week of November. The individual who nominated the caregiver will also be invited to attend the luncheon to celebrate with their hero.
"Caregivers play a crucial role in our health system," says Betty Kuchta, CEO of the Erie St. Clair CCAC. "Their acts of kindness and dedication to care are inspiring. We are thrilled to be celebrating these exceptional people with our Heroes in the Home events."
The Heroes in the Home events will take place across the Erie St. Clair region starting on Tuesday, November 5 in Chatham, Wednesday, November 6 in Sarnia and Thursday, November 7 in Windsor.
