Chatham, ON – The Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre has wrapped up its Strategic Accountability Planning Sessions for the year and has a lot of feedback to consider moving forward.
Nearly 100 community and healthcare sector partners, as well as the general public, attended the three sessions in Chatham, Windsor and Sarnia. The goal was to gauge the CCAC’s success since implementing its three-year Strategic Plan last fall. Presentations were made based on the strategic directions and enablers: providing Patient and Family Centred Care, reducing the impact of Chronic Disease, enhancing Care Coordination, ensuring value for investment, leveraging technology and being an employer of choice.
“What we heard from our stakeholders is that we are on the right track,” said CEO Lori Marshall. “Participants at all three sessions seemed especially excited about our direction toward Patient and Family Centred Care and bringing volunteer Patient Advisors into our organization. This ensures we are keeping the patient and family at the heart of our decisions, which helps us continue to enhance our quality of care.”
Attendees were told about the CCAC’s success in reallocating $1 million from administrative costs to front-line care, and a back office partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association (Chatham-Kent).
“While our participants were pleased to hear of our progress, they also provided us with some constructive feedback,” said Marshall. “We know they’d like us to work with our community and health sector partners to find people the right care, in the right place and at the right time as quickly as possible. They’d also like us to work with those partners to streamline our respective technology systems with the goal of easier navigation for our patients and their families.”
The Erie St. Clair CCAC will use the feedback generated from table discussions at each session when considering new ideas, partnerships and initiatives moving forward.
The CCAC will hold further Strategic Accountability Planning Sessions next year.
