St. Clair CCAC Embraces the Season of Giving
Employees Raise over $4,500.00 and 500 Toys for Families in Need
Thursday, December 19, 2013
Erie St. Clair, ON – The Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is dedicated to enriching the communities in which it serves. Going above and beyond the scope of health care, employees have been working together throughout the year to raise money, collect toys and food goods for families in need this holiday season.
As a result, over $4,500.00, an incredible 500 new toys and several boxes of food goods has been raised for various charitable organizations in Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex. These funds and donations were used for toy drives, and the organization "adopted" seven families across the region, through the Inn of the Good Shepherd in Sarnia, Chatham-Kent Children’s Services, and the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society. By sponsoring these seven families, employees helped to fulfill the holiday wish lists of 14 children.
While all of the families remained anonymous, in Sarnia, for example, employees were sent the holiday wish lists for a single mother’s six children. Employees then worked together to purchase the requested gifts on each list. Any remaining items on the lists were purchased using the charitable funds that were raised.
The organization’s social committees have been steadily raising funds over the year through 50/50 draws, silent auctions, raffle baskets and more. In addition, each of the Erie St. Clair CCAC office sites in Sarnia, Chatham and Windsor undertook individual toy drives for different charities.
"It is heartwarming to have received such a great response from staff," said Carol Matthews, an Erie St. Clair CCAC employee who helped to organize the toy drive in Sarnia. "It’s a wonderful feeling to know that you have helped at least one family to have a better holiday season."
