Recognizing Caregivers who go the extra mile
Chatham, ON – The Erie St. Clair CCAC is once again honouring caregivers in our communities with the 3rd annual Heroes in the Home recognition program.
Starting today (August 17), people are invited to nominate paid and unpaid caregivers who they feel provide exceptional care, whether it's a family member caring for a loved one or a health professional providing quality care to patients. Anyone can nominate a caregiver for recognition.
"It's estimated that unpaid caregivers provide $25 billion worth of labour to the health care system each year," said Dave Richie, Lead, Communications and Public Affairs for the CCAC. "This includes those people who juggle caring for loved ones while going to work and raising a family. Even though they might not ask to be thanked, we think it's important to acknowledge their tremendous contributions."
Nominations can be submitted online at
www.thepowerofcaregiving.ca. Each nominee, as well as the individual who nominated them, is then invited to one of three official recognition events:
Tuesday, November 10 – Club Alouette, Windsor
Wednesday, November 11 – Dante Club, Sarnia
Thursday, November 12 – Aristo's Banquet Room, Chatham
"It is through the kindness and dedication shown by these individuals that care is delivered to those who need it," said Erie St. Clair CCAC CEO Lori Marshall. "We are excited to celebrate these inspiring caregivers and their hard work."
The CCAC is also looking for community partners interested in donating items for gift bags that will be handed out to nominees. Honourees also receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
Last year's Heroes in the Home event recognized 85 caregivers across the Erie St. Clair region.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 2, 2015.
