On June 2nd, Minister Hoskins introduced Bill 210, Patients First Act, 2016 to the legislature in support of the government's blueprint for health care transformation in Ontario. The Patients First Act would give Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) an expanded role, including responsibility to govern and manage the delivery of home and community care. CCAC employees and contracted service providers would continue to provide these services to patients, caregivers and families.
At this time, there are no immediate changes taking place. It is our understanding that legislation will be passed in the fall and specific implementation plans are yet to be determined.
Patients are our first priority. Home care services will continue without disruption for patients currently under CCAC care, and those needing home care in the future. Health care partners across the system can be assured that the North East CCAC continues to provide services and receive referrals for care.
We encourage you to contact us at 310-2222 (no area code required), to learn more about the services offered by the North East CCAC or to refer a loved one for care.
