The North East CCAC is currently experiencing strike action by our employees who are represented by the Ontario Nurses' Association.
We remain committed to reaching a fair and reasonable agreement with our ONA employees, but want to make sure that patients and their families have the necessary information during the strike.
At the North East CCAC, ONA represents our Care Coordinators, Rapid Response Nurses, Mental Health & Addictions Nurses, Enterostomal Nurses (wound specialists) and Nurse Practitioners.
The North East CCAC is committed to meeting the needs of our patients – your safety and well-being remain our top priority.
It is important for our patients to know that, during the strike, in-home personal support, nursing care, and therapy services provided through the North East CCAC's service provider organizations will continue to be provided in accordance with your individualized care plan.
If you are waiting for an offer from a long-term care home, you will be contacted as soon as a suitable placement becomes available.
New patients coming onto care will experience delays but we are working with our health care partners to minimize this as much as possible. Patients with urgent needs will be our priority.
If you are receiving support from one of our specialized nursing programs – Telehomecare, Rapid Response, Wound Care, Nurse Practitioner, or Mental Health & Addictions, your visits/appointments will be postponed until the end of the strike.
Members of the North East CCAC team are available to support your urgent health care needs. You may call us at 310-CCAC (no area code required) from 8:00am to 8:00pm, 7 days per week.
Please note that it may take us a bit longer to respond to your enquiries as we are experiencing higher than normal call volumes. Thank you for your patience.
We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support during this challenging time. Updates will be posted here as needed.
