Walker Clinics provide independence to North East CCAC clients
Maintaining mobility and preventing falls are two important factors in aging successfully at home.
The North East CCAC is helping to address both issues by hosting monthly walker clinics for eligible individuals who are able to attend at local CCAC offices. These are typically people receiving CCAC services whose mobility challenges were identified prior to discharge from hospital and who are using a rented walker provided by the North East CCAC.
CCAC physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants assess for mobility issues, and adjust for height, stability and comfort if a walker is still needed.
Walker clinics help shorten wait times for those clients who are less mobile and require an in-home walker assessment, and also help ensure that seniors who require a little extra help in getting around are provided with the equipment and knowledge they need to remain safe, independent and mobile in the community.
