Chair’s Report
An organization is only as good as its people, and this year as we focus on the Faces of the CCAC, I am reminded that the opportunity to work with and support our employees in ensuring they are properly resourced and equipped to meet the care needs of northern families is why the members of the Board of Directors take on this challenging but rewarding role.
It was through consultation with our dedicated frontline staff that we arrived at our 2012-2015 Strategic Plan. This year, due to our changing environment – a new Health Minister, an Expert Panel review of the home and community care sector, just to name a few – the Board chose to extend our Strategic Plan for an additional year, trusting in the wisdom of our CCAC team in reconfirming the strategic directions and values in this foundational document.
During 2014-2015, the North East CCAC:
ü received over 31,169 referrals and brought 24,773 patients onto care
ü provided care and support to more than 15,507 patients on any given day
ü coordinated and delivered:
§  261,563 nursing visits
§  77,904 therapy visits
§  24,101 school therapy visits
ü coordinated over 1.12 million hours for personal support workers to provide care and comfort to CCAC patients across the North East.
In third-party Ontario-wide polling, the North East CCAC scored above the provincial average with a 91.8% satisfaction rate for patient/caregiver experience.
CEO Report
These are exciting and challenging times to be in health care. We are witnessing real change to our system – what some are calling the modernization of home and community care.
This year, our CCAC was put under a microscope. We began 2014 with a third party Collaborative Capacity Analysis, followed by a series of focus groups and surveys hosted by a non-partisan Expert Panel chaired by Dr. Gail Donner, and wrapped up the fiscal year with a value for money audit by the Auditor General.  I must admit, having the opportunity to look so closely at our organization has been both a humbling and illuminating experience.
Meet the new Faces of our CCAC Board
Effective June 26, 2015, the following new members will begin their terms with the North East CCAC Board of Directors.
Another Balanced Budget
For the 8th consecutive year, the North East CCAC has achieved a balanced budget for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015 and received a clean audit opinion from auditors KPMG LLP.  We welcome you to review the financial highlights, as well as view or download a copy of the detailed 2014-2015 audited financial statements.
To say this has been an eventful year for the North East Community Care Access Centre would be a gross understatement. Many new programs, initiatives, best practices and processes have been implemented over the last 12 months, all with the goal of improving the patient experience.  In this special issue of communiCARES, we would like to celebrate our year by showcasing some of our accomplishments.
