On April 18, 2013 the Ontario government announced additional funding for CCAC physiotherapy services. These funds will ensure that up to 60,000 more people per year will be served, benefitting 150,000 Ontarians.
As a result of recent changes to the delivery of in-home physiotherapy services, CCACs are now the single-point of access to in-home physiotherapy services. The recent changes will ensure that people across the province will have equitable access to care, no matter where they live.
Physiotherapy, or physio, can be part of a complete health-care plan for patients who are looking to regain or improve mobility, functionality or other physical goals. Physiotherapists are certified health-care professionals who help develop and carry out your physio plan, along with the other members of your health-care team.
Do I need physio?
Physiotherapy can be an important part of achieving or returning to good health and wellness. You might benefit from physio if you are recovering from an illness or injury, if you are regaining your mobility, or if you need support to maintain your abilities as you age.
If you feel you would benefit from physiotherapy, contact your Care Coordinator (or your local CCAC) to discuss your eligibility.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a physician's referral to access physiotherapy services through your CCAC. Simply contact your Care Coordinator or your local CCAC to find out more.
