Heroes in the Home

2014 Heroes in the Home

Heroes in the Home is an annual celebration sponsored by the South West CCAC in partnership with the SouthWesthealthline.ca. Each year, CCAC patients and all others involved in home and community care, have the chance to nominate a special caregiver friend, volunteer, or a health-care professional.

In 2014, over 300 Heroes were honoured at events in Owen Sound, London and Stratford. The following are just a few of the Heroes who made a difference!

Alvin's family.png

Grey and Bruce Counties
Alvin was able to remain at home to live the end of his life as he had always lived his life - with spirit, character, enthusiasm, and celebration. This was possible because of the efforts of his children Darcy, Rachael, Jake, and nephew John. They did an amazing job of ensuring 24-hour care, managing professional visits, supplies and equipment, and ensuring comfort and the love of family surrounded Alvin.
Wanda.png

Middlesex and Elgin Counties
Wanda was nominated by her son, Jason, for whom she provides care, in addition to the care she provides for her mother and her husband. Jason says that with all the care Wanda provides, "the angel needs a rest."

Marie.png
Huron, Perth, Oxford and Norfolk Counties Marie does more than you can or could ask for.  She's a Quality Mother" and now does everything her husband and nominator Gary used to do.  It comes with her love as is here, today and will be tomorrow.
