Recently, Toronto Life Magazine recognized our city's top doctors in a special feature. After polling almost 1,000 Toronto doctors, asking them to nominate the best practitioners in key specialties, a list of just 30 doctors emerged. We are thrilled to see that one of the doctors chosen is Toronto Central CCAC's Medical Advisor, Dr. Samir Sinha.
As the expert lead of Ontario's Seniors Care Strategy, and Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network, Dr. Samir Sinha is a respected professional and passionate advocate for the health care needs of seniors. He is looking to improve care for the elderly at every point in the health care continuum, and has been an invaluable resource to developing Toronto Central CCAC's care for elderly clients, notably our Integrated Client Care Program, recently recognized by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. As part of his work on the Seniors Care Strategy, Dr. Sinha has implemented innovative initiatives like the Acute Care For Elders Unit which assists seniors to come home after a hospital stay, as well as a house calls program where an inter-professional team provides care to frail, housebound seniors.
Dr. Sinha's training and expertise in health policy and the delivery of services related to the care of older adults has made him an internationally known expert in their care. He has consulted with and advised hospitals and health authorities in Britain, Canada, the United States and China about unique, integrated and innovative models of geriatric care, ultimately improving health care access for elderly patients, leading to their better health.
We are so pleased to see Dr. Sinha recognized as one of our city's top physicians.
